.THE OPPRESSIVE HEAT WILL CONTINUE ACROSS ALL OF NORTHERN ILLINOIS
AND NORTHWEST INDIANA TODAY. THIS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS COMBINATION
OF HEAT AND HUMIDITY WILL MAINTAIN ITS GRIP OVER PORTIONS OF THE
REGION GENERALLY ALONG AND SOUTHEAST OF A LINE FROM CHICAGO TO
MORRIS TO FLANAGAN THROUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.

...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT
WEDNESDAY...

THE EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING HAS BEEN EXTENDED THROUGH WEDNESDAY
AFTERNOON. HEAT INDICES WILL REACH 105 TO 110 DEGREES THIS
AFTERNOON. LITTLE RELIEF FROM THIS HEAT IS EXPECTED OVERNIGHT AS
THE APPARENT TEMPERATURE REMAINS ABOVE 80 DEGREES. WHILE
TEMPERATURES WILL BE A FEW DEGREES COOLER ON WEDNESDAY...HEAT
INDICES WILL STILL CLIMB INTO THE 100 TO 105 DEGREE RANGE DURING
THE LATE MORNING AND AFTERNOON.

THE DURATION OF THIS HEAT EVENT IS PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS TO
PEOPLE WHO ARE HEAT SENSITIVE...THE ELDERLY...THE VERY YOUNG AND
THOSE WHO ARE CHRONICALLY ILL. THESE PEOPLE SHOULD STAY IN...OR
SEEK...AIR-CONDITIONED SHELTERS IF POSSIBLE.

TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE OUTDOORS. DRINK
PLENTY OF NON-ALCOHOLIC LIQUIDS AND WEAR LOOSE FITTING...LIGHT
COLORED CLOTHING. WEAR A HAT AND USE SUNBLOCK TO PREVENT SUNBURN.
